Section 1 is located along the eastern side of Queen's Highway as you travel north and stretches from beautiful French Bay toward the northern end of the Columbus Landings subdivision.
Unlike the other sections, Section 1 was originally designed to become the center of the development. Wide boulevard-style roads run through the subdivision, and land was set aside for future commercial buildings, schools, and community facilities. Although that vision was never realized, it gives the area a unique layout that differs from the more residential character of the other sections.
Today, Section 1 remains one of the most affordable places to purchase property within Columbus Landings. Buyers will find a wide variety of lots, including single-family homesites, multifamily lots, estate-sized parcels, and commercial properties, making it one of the most versatile sections in the subdivision.
To the south lies beautiful French Bay, a long stretch of sandy beach with crystal-clear turquoise water. While Section 1 does not include beachfront lots, several properties are only a short distance from the shoreline, allowing residents to enjoy easy access to the beach.
The subdivision also borders a peaceful inland pond, creating an attractive natural feature and providing additional waterfront lots with tranquil views. Less than 15 homes have been built in section 1, most of them along Queen's Highway, where several local families live year-round. Electricity is currently available along Queen's Highway and one adjoining side road, while the remainder of Section 1 is still awaiting future expansion of the electrical grid.
Like many areas on San Salvador, the roads are unpaved and nature has gradually reclaimed parts of the subdivision. For many visitors, however, that is part of the charm. The native vegetation, quiet surroundings, and limited development provide a glimpse of what much of the island looked like before modern construction.
For buyers looking for affordable property with long-term potential, Section 1 offers an excellent opportunity to secure land in an area that was originally envisioned as the future hub of Columbus Landings.
